Re: [ARSCLIST] Stand Alone CDR Burners?
Brian,
If you don't like a computer workstation (e.g. with Plextor CD
burner), consider Sony's CDR-W66 professional audio CD recorder. It
has both analog and AES-EBU digital inputs.
<http://bssc.sel.sony.com/Professional/webapp/ModelPrint?id=59191>
It does not require audio CDRs, i.e. works with data CDRs as long as
they are 1x speed optimised.
Only domestic CD recorders require audio CDRs (for copyright levy).
However, the CDR-W66 is optimised for certain types of blank media
(see Sony CDR-W66 doc for list).
Results with Taiyo Yuden are outstanding, but it produces higher BLER
rates with less compatible media.

Subject: Re: Stand Alone CDR Burners?
I prefer a computer housed burner because it allows one to make
CD-Roms of
files as well as audio CDs. CD-Roms have more error correction and can
be
higher resolution and word depth than the 16/44.1 of a standard audio
CD.
You can also make multiple copies of a CD, I do not know if this is
possible
on a stand alone.
Stand alones write at 1X and require music CD-Rs to do so. They don't
accept
computer CD-R discs, unless that has changed.
