3) Te Deum - female soloist with Oneida Methodist and Episcopal Choir,
Wisconsin, 1946. From the Christmas service, note use of words such as
"seraphim" and "cherubim," which apparently have no Oneida
equivalents.
4) Oneida hymn - The melody is "Windham," but the words were
composed by an Oneida. This hymn is used at funerals, and is described
in the log as being sung by the entire congregation at the end of a
service.
5) Old Black Mountain Trail - Leigh Family, with young Wilma Lee

6) A Scotch Quadrille - well, that's what he called it! E.J. King,
fiddle. Recorded in Baraga, Michigan in 1938. Good crooked fiddling from
the pre-Don Messer era of French-Canadian violin.
7) Arkansas Traveler - Marion Rees, fiddle. Recorded near Zionsville,
NC in 1936.

10) Stomp Dance - the album notes speculate about an African-American
influence in the call and response pattern here. I detect the influence
of the Army song "Sound Off."
11) Waltz from Cracow - Polish fiddler John Ciezack demonstrates a
double stopping technique he learned from Cracow musician, imitating the
sound of a full band.

banjo. Red River Jig is the big Metis fiddle tune. Recorded in Odanah,
Michigan.
