I disable my Norton Auto-Protect whenever I start to use my CoolEdit Pro and Adobe Audition programs; I was experiencing some dropped audio (skips) during the digitizing process of analogue tapes and transcriptions. I also disable any other programs using memory or monitoring my computer. I find that most audio experts recommend doing this. Of course, these are all based on the assumption that one's DAW is Windows based. I'm not sure what of these helps would apply to a MAC, but I'm sure that disabling anything but one's central audio program is a smart bet.

I'm writing to get handle on how many of you are using anti-virus software on your digital audio workstations? If so, what has your experience been? What software are you running? Have you noticed any problems? Have you heard from other people that have had problems using anti-virus on a DAW?
Also, is there any published documentation available regarding the use of anti-virus on DAWs?
