Re: [ARSCLIST] Anti-virus on workstations?

I disable my Norton Auto-Protect whenever I start to use my CoolEdit Pro
and Adobe Audition programs; I was experiencing some dropped audio
(skips) during the digitizing process of analogue tapes and
transcriptions. I also disable any other programs using memory or
monitoring my computer. I find that most audio experts recommend doing
this. These are some of the web sites that address the optimizing of
your computer as a DAW:
http://funklogic.com/pcaudio.htm
http://www.cybertown.com/pcopt2.html
http://www.aardvarkaudio.com/support/system_config.html
http://www.musicsolutions.com.au/articles/optimisingwindows.html

Of course, these are all based on the assumption that one's DAW is
Windows based. I'm not sure what of these helps would apply to a MAC,
but I'm sure that disabling anything but one's central audio program is
a smart bet.

Good morning everyone,

I'm writing to get handle on how many of you are using anti-virus software on
your digital audio workstations? If so, what has your experience been? What
software are you running? Have you noticed any problems? Have you heard from
other people that have had problems using anti-virus on a DAW?

Also, is there any published documentation available regarding the use of
anti-virus on DAWs?

Thanks in advance,
Brandon Burke
