The Diapason is built around a Technics SL-1200MK2. So it's comparable to an SP-15. The tone arm isn't as good as an SME but it'll do the trick for most E.T.'s. The SME shines when you have some very big problems, but hopefully you won't encounter those. The variable speed and the digital read out on the Diapason is great.
