A Technics Sp-15 turntable on a custome base with a SME 3012R arm will
work perfectly, I have set many of these up and have had many excellent
reports.

 I currently have a Technics SP-15 motor unit for sale for 275.00 Plus
shipping and I have custome made bases starting at 200.00

As a non-expert, could he (or whomever) not acquire a vintage turntable
with a platter and arm spacing configured for 16" discs, and install a
modern arm, which could be lengthened if required, that being a simple
