Re: [ARSCLIST] Capitol vs. Naxos

Since the world is moving to making music available on line, I suggest
that old recordings be placed on servers in a country like Canada where
the fifty-year rule applies. Appropriate charges and subscription fees
could be charged to users, unless some kindly person is willing to put
recordings on his server for free as a gift to the world. I have a feeling
that many of us here have large collections and an ability to make MP3
files of them. The resulting MP3 files could be beamed up (using File
Transfer Protocol) to the server. This is cheap. The hard part is indexing
them and preparing the proper discographic information. The ARSC, of
course, is the premiere organization to develop and coordinate guidelines
for such indexes.
