Epson makes a scanner that will scan a 12.2" x 17" image, Epson Expression 836XL, i purchased mine from ebay for 250.00 just so i could scan album covers!

That sounds like a lot of work for hundreds of covers.

That might apply to a low grade digital camera, but it would not apply
to a 35mm SLR.
