I had one of the RCA cart units in the late 50's. It ran
at 3 3/4ips and the tracks were next to each other, taking space normally used
on a 2 trk. head. Thus allowing the cart to be turned over to play the other 2
tracks. Yoy could play on a 4 trk machine, but would have to rewire the head (
or swap plugs if any). I believe they later changed this. When the Phillips
cassette was introduced Rca stopped making them.
