----- as to "oddest" may I propose the recording of the electrical brain-
signals from an anaestethized cat (1939), taken by electrodes inserted in the
brain while flickering light was shone into the eyes of the cat? This was an
appendix in 10"  78rpm form to a doctoral dissertation on vision.

Now, to be exact, this is not a sound recording, but a waveform recording.
But it cannot have been very entertaining.
