RE: arsclist TDK audio cassettes

Some of the early models had an Aluminum center section with clear
plastic covers. They quit making these because of complaints from people
using them in car stereos. It seems they were so heavy, that they would
get stuck inside to car stereo unit! They later changed the center
section to plastic, which made them lighter, but not nearly as stabile.
If anyone has any of the older tapes with the gray aluminum center
section, I am looking to purchase them regardless of the tape condition!

David,
Thanks for responding. I have a bit more information now - it turns out
we are looking for examples of SA or SAX models, most likely, which have
a clear plastic window which has a significant overlap with the black or
grey plastic case but does not cover it completely. They were only
manufactured between 1987 and 1995 and say "super precision
anti-resonance cas. mech." on the face. There is some question about the
plastic injection technology I think - anyway I appreciate any help you
might be able to provide. Thanks again. Margaret

Margaret,

I have definitely made use of SA and SAX starting in about 1980. I still
have
many of the ones I recorded, mostly of my own music, from that time
thorough
1988.
Not so sure about MAX (?metal, if so, not before 1988) and ARX.

What do you need to know?

Hi,
I need to get in touch with people who have used TDK audio cassettes,
models SASAX, MAX or ARX, for recording before December 1988.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
