Hi Kurt and List members,
1) Here at Yale, the Conservation folks stopped fumigating long ago because so many staff had terrible allergic reactions to the materials used for fumigation. They now work by cleaning and freezing. I have no details, but can ask if no one else knows.
2) Somewhere in the Library supply world there are steel library stack shelves
with adjustable dividers; when the new HSR studio was ready, there they were,
installed and ready to vibrate noisily at most any sound (such as speech or the
playing of a record) in the otherwise silent room. So they were removed and
replaced with custom-build sealed wooden shelves. Unfortunately the shelves
were not labeled with manufacturer's name, nor were their boxes. Another way to
go is to obtain shelves without dividers and to use on them the record boxes
which Gaylord designed.
