Technology & Conservation ran an article in the Fall-Winter issue (3-4/88) on "Occupational Health & Safety Organizations: A Directory of Government Agencies & Professional Associations". The nine page compilation lists OSHA (the Occupational Safety & Health Administration) headquarters, regional offices, and area offices and a brief description of what services each type of office provides. State organizations, technical assistance/ consultation services, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) offices, NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health) offices, other federal agencies, occupational safety and health agencies in Canada, and professional associations are all listed.

A supra-column feature presents the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, with which all workplaces must have been in compliance since August 1988. Under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard "the main employer obligations...are: hazard identification; a written hazard communication program; material safety data sheets (MSDS); appropriate labels and other forms of warning on original containers as well as all secondary containers; employee information and training".
