WAAC Annual Meeting

Anonymous

This year's annual meeting will be held October 28, 29 & 30 in Santa Barbara, California. The WAAC board has received a lot of positive feedback from the membership about this choice of location and we are anticipating a very nice meeting. Arrangements for accommodations are being made with the Sheraton Hotel. It offers excellent conference facilities and, most importantly, it is situated near the downtown area and right on the beach.

By starting the conference on a Monday rather than later in the week we can take advantage of a $65 rate per person per night rather than the $85 weekend rate. This scheduling also coincides with some interesting exhibits at local museums. A fun banquet/barbeque is planned and two institutions have offered to hold receptions for WAAC.

Suppliers of conservation materials are invited to attend and those who are interested in exhibiting should contact Scott Haskins to express their interest.

Scott is arranging a special session for the discussion of materials used in treatment. A discussion panel made up of conservators and suppliers will encourage participation from the audience. Scott hopes that the tone of this session will be open and frank and that it will examine feelings about the reversibility of certain products and guidelines for the use of materials in general.

Members who wish to present papers should contact John Twilley as soon as possible. The deadline for the submission of an abstract on any subject is 4 July.

Hotel information will be sent in the next two weeks. Reservations should be made as soon as possible after receiving this information. There are a limited number of rooms set aside and those who do not make their reservation well in advance will be at the mercy of hoteliers in a not-so-cheap resort town.

Questions regarding local arrangements, supplier participation and the materials session should be directed to:
