Gatorfoam is a Polystyrene/UF, Acrylic Resin Support. Recently Chris Stavroudis and I were preparing a Gatorfoam panel as a solid support system for a large, 60 x 60" painting. The application of the rag board to the Gatorfoam with a PVA emulsion caused the support to warp even though the whole package was weighted while drying. Gregory Mahoney, who constructs stretcher bars and frames, also has reported the same problem when he attempted to apply wooden battens to a Gatorfoam panel.
