Preservation Briefs

The conservator of architecture and objects will be interested in "Preservation Briefs," a series of informative bulletins published for federal agencies and state and local governments by the Superintendent of Documents. U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C. 20402 at a nominal cost. These bulletins provide information concerning professional methods and techniques for preserving, improving, restoring and maintaining historic properties. The bulletins define both specific material and general conservation problems listing methods of inspection and analysis, give suggestions for maintenance, repair and replacement. Topics to-date include: "Repointing Mortar Joints in Historic Brick Buildings," "Preservation of Historic Adobe Buildings," and "The Preservation of Historic Glazed Architectural Terra-Cotta." The authors welcome comments and suggestions and also include a brief bibliography with each issue.
