Conservation Treatment Label

by James L. Greaves

To prevent misuse through an implied WAAC approval of treatments therein recorded, we propose to eliminate the inclusion of any reference to WAAC on the label. The labels will still serve their primary function i.e. providing essential conservation data regardless of the appropriateness or quality of the treatment. What we lose in public relations may be more than offset by the knowledge that we are not an organization adding the aura of legitimacy to substandard work. WAAC will not be named on the label and anyone may produce comparable labels. If we receive enough positive responses by the October meeting, WAAC will print labels as a membership service. Again, your suggestions are solicited.
