THE CONSERVATION OF AMERICAN WAR MEMORIALS MADE OF ZINC

CAROL A. GRISSOM, & RONALD S. HARVEY

5 CONCLUSION

As soldier monuments made of zinc have aged but have also become more valued historical memorials over time, they increasingly require treatment for survival. This article has aimed to provide a solid basis for future conservation. It is hoped that surface treatments will be more sensitive to original intentions. Most important of all, the authors wish to bring a halt to the ruinous practice of filling zinc monuments with concrete.
