ON THE REVERSIBILITY OF TREATMENTS WITH ACRYLIC/SILICONE RESIN MIXTURES

A.E. Charola, A. Tucci, & R.J. Koestler

ABSTRACT—The reversibility of a consolidation treatment on limestone, using an acrylic/silicone mixture, is tested on aged and unaged specimens. Extracted residues are tested by infrared analysis and scanning electron microscope examination. Irreversibility of the treatment is found to be confined to the exposed surface of the stone.
