wagon

A hand instrument somewhat resembling a sled (with its runners) and used in the manufacture of gold leaf to trim the edges of the leaves to proper size. A finely sharpened knife made of the bark of a reed is used in conjunction with the wagon. This knife is said to be so sharp that not even the finest steel can be honed to an edge equally suitable for trimming the leaves. (29 )
