vapor permeability

That characteristic of a material which permits the passage of a vapor or gas. The PERMEABILITY is measured under carefully specified conditions, such as total pressure, partial pressure on the two sides of the specimen, temperature and relative humidity. As the fibers of a material such as paper have such a high affinity for water (vapor), vapor permeability should not be confused with air permeability or porosity.
