A nitrogenous substance ((NH 4 ) 2 CO 3 ), abundant in perspiration and urine. It is readily attacked by microorganisms which may result in the formation of ammonia compounds detrimental to the permanence of leather. It is also used in the manufacture of paper. (363 )
