A rarely encountered bookbinding leather, one that
has been tanned in the natural state (with the
hair left on). Although calfskin, usually aSLUNK , has been
tanned in this manner for bookbinding purposes,
most of the examples of this type of leather in
bookbinding are the skins of wild animals. (332 )
