ultramarine

A blue pigment occurring naturally in small amounts as the mineral lapis lazuli, and manufactured in very large amounts. It is a complex silicate of sodium and aluminum. Ultramarine is used as a mineral coloring agent in the manufacture of paper and leather. (60 , 235 )
