tracing paper

A paper used for duplicating drawings, figures, etc. It may be either a translucent, greaseproof paper, or a bond or manifold paper treated chemically or oiled so as to increase its transparency. It is produced from cotton fiber, chemical wood pulps, or combinations thereof, in basis weights ranging from 7 1/4 to 16 pounds (17 X 22). Important properties include proper receptivity to drawing ink and transparency, so that prints from the tracings can be made. (17 , 316 )
