tizra
A vegetable tanning material obtained from the
roots and heartwood of a shrub or small tree, Rhus
pentaphylla, occurring throughout the western part
of North Africa. The heartwood may he expected to
produce 20 to 23 o tannin, while the roots may
have a tannin content as high as 28 to 29. Tizra,
which is of the condensed class of tannins.
closely resemblesQUEBRACHO both in
chemical properties and tanning qualities. It has
long been used in Morocco in the tanning of MOROCCO leathers. See
