sun spots

A variation of the Turkish, snail, or wave marbles, consisting of a color or colors which are made to spread out in a raylike effect somewhat like the rays of the sun. The effect is produced by adding a small amount of kaolin (in water) and boiled potash to the colors. The colors are then dropped on the size, a drop of potash water is dropped on, causing the color to contract, followed by another drop of the color directly over the first, which causes the color to radiate outward.
