sun spots
A variation of the Turkish, snail, or wave
marbles, consisting of a color or colors which are
made to spread out in a raylike effect somewhat
like the rays of the sun. The effect is produced
by adding a small amount of kaolin (in water) and
boiled potash to the colors. The colors are then
dropped on the size, a drop of potash water is
dropped on, causing the color to contract,
followed by another drop of the color directly
over the first, which causes the color to radiate
outward. (264 )
