1. The blank leaf of an endpaper pasted directly
to the first leaf of a book. The first folio
number is then on a left-hand page. It is a
technique used in blankbook binding. 2. Two ruled
leaves pasted together at any place where the
ruling changes, so as to have uniform ruling at
any SPREAD (1) to
which the book is opened. Leaves are also glued
between the front fly leaf and the first page of
the index, as well as between the index and the
main part of the book. (276 )
