stencil

1. A method of printing which utilizes wax, silk, or other material. The ink, paint, etc., is applied to the hack of the stencil. and covers the paper, cloth, etc., only where the stencil is open. See also:SILK-SCREEN PRINTING . 2. A thin cut metal plate which allows the transfer of a design, letter, etc., to a surface when an inked brayer or brush is passed over its surface. (156 )
