square form

A cattle hide with a minimum amount of tissue in the neck, leg and belly areas. The "square form" has resulted from programs of breeding cattle to produce a body conformation which will yield the greatest amount of lean beef per unit weight of animal. Dairy breeds, on the other hand, have an overall distribution that is much less than "square." (363 )
