spring channel binder
A mechanical binding used to hold less than 1/2
inch thickness of paper. The back of this type of
binder has a spring steel channel, the leaves
being held between the sides of the channel by
spring pressure. The boards are hinged to the edge
of the channel, and, when both are thrown back and
pressed together, the channel is forced open for
removal or insertion of sheets. It is not
necessary to punch or drill the paper for this
type of binder. (339 )
