soluble nylon

A N-methoxymethyl nylon prepared by treating nylon 66 with formaldehyde, and used in non-aqueous resizing of paper. Its major importance is that it can be used in a 2% solution in methyl or ethyl alcohol and sprayed or brushed on the document (depending on the fragility of the paper) in cases where the paper is too weak to handle easily when wet or where it is suspected or known that the ink may be sensitive to water. It also imparts strength to weak papers. (265 )
