ringing out
A ceremony observing the apprentice's last day as
an apprentice. On noon of that last day, the next
senior apprentice begins the ringing by banging
his press pin on the platen of a press, or some
other metal object. Following the ringing, the new
journeyman puts on his jacket and walks into the
office of the owner of the establishment to ask
