restored
A book that has been repaired or rebound in such a
manner as to retain all, or at least as much as
possible, of the original covering material, and
(frequently) the original boards and endpapers. It
is generally accepted that everything possible
should be done to retain as much as possible, and
that added materials should be functional,
chemically safe, strong, durable, and unobtrusive
(although with no attempt at deception).
