rebuilding corners

The repair and reconstruction of the corner or corners of the covers of a book that have become worn, soft, bent, mashed, or broken. Corner rebuilding generally involves the application of paste or other adhesive between the plies of the board. The adhesive is sometimes injected between the plies by means of a hypodermic syringe. If a part of the corner is missing, or so badly damaged that it cannot be rebuilt as described above, the covering material and board paper are lifted, permalife paper cut to proper size is glued to both sides of the board, and the corner is then rebuilt by packing the space between the permalife paper with shredded blotting paper mixed with an adhesive, plastic wood, etc. (173 , 236 )
