quick-set inks
PRINTING INKS
containing thin mineral oil and varnish. The thin
oil is quickly absorbed into the paper during
printing, while the pigment and varnish remain on
the surface of the paper, thus allowing the sheets
to be handled sooner than if regular linseed
oil-based inks were used. Since the final setting
time of the varnish is increased, the surface of
the sheets remain more receptive to subsequent
printings, as in multi-color printing. (140 )
