platinum leaf
A very heavy metallic element (Pt), that is
typically grayish white, non-corroding, ductile
and malleable, and which can be beaten into
leaves, although not as thin as gold leaf. It is
used with, or in lieu of, gold leaf in decorating
bookbindings. It is suitable for the best work
and, being thicker than gold leaf, is easier to
handle.
