1. Paper pulp or fibers which adhere to the wet or
dry sections of the papermaking machine. See also:

particle of hardened ink, dirt, or paper, or a
piece of composition roller, embedded in the
hollow of printing type, filling up its face and
causing a dark spot to appear on the printed
sheet. 3. A small particle of metal on an
electrotype or stereotype plate, caused by a
slight defect in the mold, and resulting in a spot
or blot on the printed sheet. 4. A white spot on
the printed surface of a sheet, and caused by ink
adhering to the form and pulling a particle from
the surface of the paper. 5. The condition in an
adhesive which causes it to transfer unevenly from
an adhesive applicator due to high surface tack.
