patterned papers

Papers printed or patterned in relief with a design and used for book jackets or covers. One of the more common patterns has been a simulation of leather. Patterned papers are produced by passing the web of paper through rollers engraved with the pattern on the papermaking machine. For linen or crash patterns the rollers may be wrapped with the material itself. (182 )
