pasting
1. A general term applied to the process of
joining two or more sheets of paper or board,
cloth and board, leather and board, cloth and
paper, etc., by means of an adhesive. 2. The
application of paste to a surface, either by hand
with a brush, or by machine. Pasting machines are
used to a considerable extent, either as
independent units or built into other machines,
e.g., casing-in machines. The pasting machine
usually consists of a rotating cylinder to which
the adhesive is carried from a container or
through transfer cylinders, and against which the
paper is fed. (140
