palladium leaf

A silver-white, moderately ductile, malleable metal (Pd) of the platinum group. It can be beaten into leaf form, although not as thin as gold leaf, for use in lettering and decorating books. It is suitable for use alone or in combinations with gold leaf. Although it is somewhat duller than silver and has a slightly leaden quality, unlike silver, it does not tarnish under normal circumstances. (130 , 233 )
