one-letter index
An INDEX
consisting of 24, 26, or (rarely) 27 divisions for
the letters of the alphabet. The 24division index
generally omits the letter X and either omits I or
combines it with J; the 26-division index includes
all the letters, or adds Mac and omits X; while
the 27-division index includes X along with Mac.
