manifold binding
The business of binding multiple business forms,
such as sales records, billheads, purchase orders,
etc. It may also include the punching of
custom-made forms that are used in one of many
proprietary loose-leaf, record keeping systems.
Manifold bindings are usually padded or wire
stitched, and are seldom sewn. They are also
frequently of a temporary nature, e.g., a common
style consists of marbled boards with a paper
spine (although it may be cloth). Since this style
of binding frequently includes sheets of carbon
copy, perforation is usually necessary. Other
manifold bindings sometimes require page
numbering. Manifold binding usually employs
power-driven, hand-operated equipment. (320 , 343 )
