linseed oil
A pale yellow drying oil extracted from ground
flax seed genus Linum, and especially L.
usitatissimum, and used occasionally in the 19th
century as a marbling size. It was never used as
extensively as GUM
TRAGACANTH or FLEA
SEED .
Linseed oil is also used in the manufacture of
some printing inks and in some finishing processes
in leather manufacture.
