linseed oil

A pale yellow drying oil extracted from ground flax seed genus Linum, and especially L. usitatissimum, and used occasionally in the 19th century as a marbling size. It was never used as extensively as GUM TRAGACANTH or FLEA SEED .

Linseed oil is also used in the manufacture of some printing inks and in some finishing processes in leather manufacture.
