kiss marks
Light or white patches on vegetable tanned
leathers, caused by hides and skins touching each
other in the tanning pits, thus preventing the tan
from penetrating the areas of contact. Kiss marks
are prevented by rocking the frames which hold the
skins while in the pits. (306 )
