1. A piece of blank paper or card laid between the
leaves of a book and not secured. Inserting is
sometimes required to compensate for the swelling
of the spine caused by the added bulk of the
sewing thread. 2. An additional printed leaf or
leaves, circular, etc., placed between the leaves
