fore-edge binding
A style of binding representing a degree between
quarter and half-binding, in which a narrow strip
of leather or cloth, usually of the same color as
that covering the spine, is attached to the outer
extremity of each board. The width of the strip
generally varies according to the color and
decoration, if any, of the material used to cover
