flat back binding

and backed before the boards are attached. The
term is also sometimes applied to a book which has

a flat back binding has a tendency to become
concave. Also called "square back." See also: FLAT BACK CASE
BINDING . 2. A leather binding which does not
have bands appearing on the spine. (140 , 236 , 335 , 343 )
