edge marbling machine

A machine used for decorating the edges of book in imitation ofMARBLING .

The principle of operation is somewhat similar to that of the platen press. The edge of the book is pressed against the printing surface which has been inked by the form rollers. Any design, color, or combination of colors can be used. The machine may also be used for city directories, etc., where advertising matter is printed on the edges. (264 )
