1. See: BOOK JACKET . 2. A blank leaf inserted at the end of a pamphlet or booklet having a self-cover. dusting. The process of spreading ground, raw vegetable tanning materials over and between hides being tanned in layer vats to add to the tanning strength of the tan liquor. Dusting was a common practice before the days of concentrated tanning extracts. (363 )
