The process of storing dry leather for
conditioning or aging, during which time it
absorbs water from the atmosphere until it reaches
equilibrium with the relative humidity of its
environment. During this period some of its
constituents become more uniformly distributed
throughout the thickness of the leather. In
addition, greater fixation of the tanning
materials may occur. (363 )
